Creating a new user
To create a new user account, begin by visiting the user manager within your My Easy Eatery control panel and click the orange 'Add a new user' button at the top-right corner of the page.
You'll then be presented with the form to create a new user account:
To create a new user account, you must provide each of the following fields:
Field | Description |
---|---|
Email address | The email address field is required to log in to the Easy Eatery control panel. You may not create multiple accounts using the same email address. |
Password | The password field is required in combination with the account email address to log in to your website's control panel. Passwords must be a minimum of eight characters in length and should ideally contain at least one capital letter, one number and one special character, such as an exclamation or question mark. |
First name | The user's first name. Used when emails are sent to that user by the website, such as a password reset email, and is displayed when a user creates or edits content on the website. |
Last name | The user's last name. Used when emails are sent to that user by the website, such as a password reset email, and is displayed when a user creates or edits content on the website. |
It's good practice to ensure that only those who need to access your website's control panel have an account. When someone leaves your team, you can disable or delete their account to ensure they can no longer make any changes to your website.
Setting account permissions.
Each account created on your website has its own set of permissions. These permissions set which parts of your control panel the given user account can. Permissions are typically granted on a per-section basis.
How to assign permissions:
The first step is to enable a user's access to a section, for example the 'Site content' section. You can do this by changing the 'Enable' switch within a given section to the teal 'Yes' position.
Once access is enabled, you can then select which actions the user can take by checking, or un-checking the box next to each action.
Using 'Site content' as an example again, you could allow the account to view form submissions, but not give them the ability to create or edit web forms.
User profile fields are used within your blog.
While the 'first name' and 'last name' fields are used throughout the Easy Eatery control panel, the other fields within the 'User profile' section of a user account are used specifically within your blog.
When you create blog posts, you can associate them with authors.
There are two types of authors, 'standard authors' and 'guest authors'.
Guest authors can be managed within your control panel's 'Blog' section, whilst standard authors are linked with user accounts instead.
Both types of authors use the same fields:
Field | Details |
---|---|
First name | The user's first name. In addition to uses outlined at the to of this page, the first name also forms part of the author name. |
Last name | The user's last name. In addition to uses outlined at the to of this page, the last name also forms part of the author name. |
Author short bio | A plain text author biography field, used as a short description of the author. Has a maximum length of 300 characters. |
Facebook page URL | Optional. If the user has a Facebook page you can enter a link to it here. |
LinkedIn profile URL | Optional. If the user has a LinkedIn profile you can enter a link to it here. |
Twitter profile URL | Optional. If the user has a Twitter profile you can enter a link to it here. |
YouTube channel URL | Optional. If the user has a YouTube channel you can enter a link to it here. |
Website URL | Optional. If the user has a website you can enter a link to it here. |
Changes to users requires password verification
When you create a new user account or make changes to an existing one, you'll be prompted to enter your own account password when saving your changes. This security measure is in place to ensure only authorised individuals can create user accounts.
